Some startling numbers about alcohol use: 0.08: It’s illegal to operate a motor vehicle in the United States if you have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 or above. In the U.S. state of Utah, it’s illegal to drive with a BAC of 0.05 or higher. 4+ and 5+: Women who binge drink typically consume about 4 or more alcoholic drinks in two hours or under. Men who binge drink consume 5 or more drinks during that time period. 12: Many sobriety groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, encourage their members to progress through a series of 12 steps to encourage recovery. 10,511: This is the number of people who died in crashes related to drunk driving in 2018.
