Director of Addiction Therapy

POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Director is responsible for providing the clinical oversight of Lincoln Recovery’ Detoxification, Residential, and Therapeutic Programs. The Clinical Director oversees and supervises the clinical staff which is made up of Therapists, Counselors and Group Facilitators. This includes ensuring timely implementation, reporting, and documentation of a variety of functions including safety, quality improvement, and compliance standards. The Clinical Director also performs direct services to clients including individual therapy, case management, providing group therapies, development and implementation of treatment and discharge plans, and aftercare. The Clinical Director’s position is responsible for supervising/signing off on all behavioral health services administered by the clinical team under the license. The Clinical Director will lead weekly clinical supervision meetings and adjust the program schedule as needed and required by California Department of Health Care Services. In the event of a prolonged absence the Clinical Director will designate a member of the clinical team with the required skills and experience to work the Clinical Supervisor(s) to provide all necessary coverage of program functions during the absence

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Uses the clinical auditing tool to ensue all services are being delivered and corrected daily.

2. Supervises a multi-disciplinary staff of 10 or more clinicians; confers with staff regularly regarding techniques used, case progress, and related matters for the purpose of promoting and evaluating professional development and assuring quality of care, as well as reviewing work in progress.

3. Ensures appropriate agency, state and federal regulation, license, and accreditation requirements are current and on file.

4. Conducts regular case conferences with clinicians and interns for supervision and consultation.

5. Reviews psychiatric case records and consults on all cases for discussion and correction.

6. Ability to recruit, employ, train, and evaluate qualified staff, and terminate employment of staff, if applicable to the facility.

7. Supervises staff in assessing social, emotional and economic causes of problem behavior and mental or emotional disorders and in developing and modifying treatment and approves alternative plans, termination or transfer of cases.

8. Supervises activities of employees; is responsible for assignment and reassignment of employee caseload.

9. Coordinates the assignment of cases, conducts staff meetings and provides training

10. Recruits and schedules staff to provide for clinical coverage; evaluates work performance; concludes disciplinary proceedings.

11. Personally, handles some of the more complex cases; performs a variety of direct clinical, diagnostic, treatment, and outreach services.

12. Ensures compliance with related federal, state and local regulations, departmental & county policies and procedures along with CARF/Joint Commission standards.

13. Develops and participates in the establishment or revision of policies, procedures, guidelines, goals and objectives.

14. Provides consultation to intern staff regarding Behavioral Health Care services, programs, and guidelines.

15. Assists the Behavioral Health Care Manager with program planning, implementation and evaluation activities.

16. Participates in community outreach and public relations activities.

17. Respond to emergencies and initiates action as required.

18. Demonstrates knowledge of diagnosis codes/ICD-10 and ASAM criteria for all levels of care.

19. Engages in appropriate written and verbal communication with families, insurance companies, and other professionals

20. Perform comprehensive audits of the company’s medical records to measure the performance of specific targeted measures.

21. Provide support to clinical staff with regards to the completeness of content in the medical records.

22. Work collaboratively with the Operations and Medical Departments to identify/correct weaknesses within staff performance regarding documentation and service.

23. Work closely with the Clinical Supervisor to ensure quality of medical records is maintained.

24. Perform quality assurance audits on all medical records.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge: The Clinical Director will:

1. Possess a basic knowledge of administrative functions including, interpersonal communications, office etiquette, and computer skills.

2. Advanced knowledge of 12-step treatment model and its application in residential treatment.

3. Possess strong clinically ethical standards.

4. Possess an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.

5. Knowledge of dual diagnosis treatment practices including non-pharmacological symptom management techniques.

6. Advanced knowledge of HIPAA regulations and CFR 42 requirements.

7. Possess a basic understanding of report generation, graphical analysis, and data interpretation.

8. Possess effectiveness in building/organizing department trainings, group curriculum and quality control standards within the clinical department.

7. Organization – Must be highly organized and efficient in managing the necessary daily client/staff demands and tasks associated with them.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERENCES: The following requirements and preferences will be evaluated and verified to establish employment eligibility.

1. 5+ Years of experience in managing/building clinical teams and programming.

2. Master’s degree in related field of study.

3. Clinical Supervision Credential and License required

4. Utilization Review experience is a plus.

5. Experience working with medical records is a plus.

6. 1-3 Year of experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and EMR systems at an advanced level.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
